Sakurada Koharu (桜 (さくら) 田 (だ) 心 (こ) 陽 (はる) , Sakurada Koharu^?), also known as simply Koharu (コハル), is the main protagonist of LOVE BULLET.

Background

Koharu was a 15 year old 1st year in high school, quite popular for matchmaking fellow students. She often set up her classmates upon request, encouraging them to confess to one another. She herself was never interested in anyone else romantically, and believed her matchmaking abilities to be her only interesting trait.

After school one day, her childhood friend, Tamaki Aki, confesses her crush on Koharu. She's so dumbfounded that she doesn't notice debris falling from a construction site nearby. When Koharu tackles Aki out of the way, a piece of rebar fully pierces her abdomen and she bleeds out, dying in front of Aki before she can answer her feelings.

She wakes up five years later in the same spot, reborn as a Cupid, with her name changing from 心陽 ("Koharu" in kanji) to コハル (still "Koharu", but in katakana). She's awoken by her new mentor, Kanna, who explains that it's now her duty to help humans fall in love, with the goal of gaining enough good karma to be reborn.

Appearance

As a human, Koharu had dark brown eyes and short, straight black hair that she wore in pigtails with two red clips. She wore her school's uniform - a white button down shirt, a blue blazer and skirt, a red bow tie, and black dress shoes - with long white socks.

As a Cupid, Koharu has bright red eyes and curly white hair with a red streak, which she wears in pigtails with two red clips. She has two white wings that grow from her back. She wears a white button-down shirt, a light blue jacket and skirt, a red bow tie, and white dress shoes, with light blue elbow and knee pads and a white tactical vest.

Personality

Koharu is timid and inexperienced as a Cupid, unsure of her own abilities. While generally awkward and shy, Koharu has amazing intuition for the feelings of other people, towards herself and each other, making her an amazing matchmaker.

Relationships

• Kanna: Koharu's mentor and fellow Cupid. Though Koharu is reluctant and unsure, Kanna encourages her and believes in her ability to be a good Cupid.
• Chiyo: Koharu's fellow Cupid. She likes to challenge and tease Koharu, testing her fighting skills. Koharu is a little overwhelmed by her combativeness and energy.
• Ena: Koharu's fellow Cupid. Ena is calm and tries to impress her rational method of matchmaking onto Koharu.
• Tamaki Aki: Koharu's childhood friend. She confessed romantic feelings to Koharu, but her death left Aki crushed and Koharu without time to think about her feelings. Koharu admits she would've liked to fall in love, but since their relationship was rendered impossible, she helps Aki move on with Sakura.
• Kasuga Sakura: Though she only knew her for a short time, Koharu appreciates Sakura's laid-back admiration of Aki, and how much she truly cares for her well-being.

Trivia

• When Koharu becomes a Cupid, her name's spelling changes from 心陽 in kanji to コハル in katakana. Her last name is also blacked out when mentioned.
• As a new Cupid, Koharu has a particular scent, described as "like a baby" by Kanna, "like a puppy" by Chiyo, and "like fresh baked bread" by Ena.
• The kanji in Koharu's human name read as follows: "桜", referring to sakura or cherry blossom trees; "田", referring to rice fields; "心", referring to the metaphorical heart; and "陽", referring to positive energy and vitality.
